Our pregnancy announcement was incredibly special to us. After a heavy season of experiencing recurrent miscarriages, we were overjoyed to be sharing the news about our healthy rainbow* baby. This day was a celebration of reaching the second trimester with our baby boy, who was (and still is!) growing and thriving with a strong heartbeat (the sweetest sound in the entire world). These pictures mean and represent so much to me. They so perfectly capture the raw emotions we were experiencing at that time! Feelings of joy, hope and healing.
When it came time to pick a location to take our photos, we knew we didn’t need to venture far. What better place than the beach right down the street from our new home? We had dreamed of moving to our particular town for years. Throughout those years (and while we were house-hunting!), we always talked about how perfect a city it would be to raise a family in and pictured our future little ones on this beach, playing in the sand and running in and out of these waves.
*A “rainbow baby” is a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss. In life, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and is a symbol of hope. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison. The storm (pregnancy loss) has already happened, nothing can change that experience. Clouds may still be overhead as the family continues to cope with their loss, but something colourful and bright has emerged from the darkness.
Thank you to our sweet and talented friends:
